My latest and possibly biggest hobby project is now automating my home. I’ve started this project in the middle of 2019 when a friend sent me his idea to build a nanny cam for their baby that was soon to arrive.
I need to take some time to do a full write-up of my journey but until then, here are a few screenshots from my Home Assistant setup. I’ve also built some custom hardware running ESPHome to control the main gate, garage doors, monitor electricity consumption and more.
Home automation should be about creating a smart, automated home and not dashboards that merely act as info panels and a complicated remote control but these should give you some insight into what might be happening in the background.
